Cotton Rugs
PROCESS:
If cleaned and maintained properly, cotton rugs can last for many years
Vacuum the rug or take the rug outside and shake the dirt off. If it fits, you can wash the rug in a washing machine. Larger rugs need to be cleaned by a steam cleaner.
Small rugs will dry in the sun, while a fan will work better for larger rugs.
STAIN REMOVAL:
You will need to spot-clean stains by dipping a toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide and scrubbing it on the stained spot until the stain is gone.
Germs can be cleaned by hanging the rug outside on a sunny day.
MAINTENANCE TIPS:
You can clean a small cotton rug in a washing machine.
After the rug has been washed, fluff up the rug using your fingers to fix matted down areas.
Cotton being less durable than polyester or polypropylene, avoid exposing it to the hot air of the dryer.
